Emerging Markets Telecommunications Fund Inc. (ETF) was the winner of the day
At the end of the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 86 points down .61 percent for the day with the NASDAQ up 7.7 points up .27 percent for the day. The United Auto Workers unions signed a 4 year contract with Chrysler a few hours after the strike started. Also Boeing dropped the ball and is delaying deliveries of their grand Jetliner. Interestingly Costco had a 5 percent increase in fourth quarter profit. Ever wonder how you buy two or three things in Costco and the bill is always $200? That money goes straight into the profit. Walmart (WMT) was actually up .84 percent for the day despite being slammed on the MSN homepage. The stock is still down 7 percent for a 2 year period though. For some reason Emerging Markets Telecommunications Fund Inc. (ETF) was the winner of the day up 3.54 percent for the day and 26.56 percent for the year. It looks like there has been some positive press surrounding exchange traded funds and increasing investment in offshore energies and communications.
