HIFU is a High Intensity Focused Ultrasound using the Sonablate® 500 to destroy deep-seated tissue such as cancer cells with pinpoint accuracy. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound allows for minimally invasive prostate cancer treatment. Additional ablatherm information is also available. The treatment can be completed in two to three hours and in most cases allows for out patient basis using spinal or epidural anesthesia. The High Intensity Focused Ultrasound uses no radiation so the procedure can be repeated if needed and does not damage healthy tissue.
