What started out as a good day has turned negative. At the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 45.44 points down .36 percent for the day. The NASDAQ was basically even at 0. The price of oil rose and Merrill Lynch announced they are cutting ten percent of their (non stock broker) staff. A judge approved the subpoenas of Countrywide. Things are not looking very positive after all.
