This completely Shocked me. Ask.com is dead. Well…… the word is that as the CEO leaves and management changes happen Ask.com is changing back to it’s old ways. That’s right the old question and answer format from 1996.
The Wall Street Journal says IAC is modifying their strategy to “focus to better answering search queries posed as questions.” 40 Employees from Ask.com will be laid off.
It looks like Ask.com also has the option of syndicating Google search results.
Of course they could change their mind and not do this but this speaks volumes considering the Microsoft takeover attempt of Yahoo. If I were Microsoft I would buy them out also….

I don’t really think this is a bad thing. Ask.com will never be google & ask.com is pretty unusable the way it is now. I liked the original format of Ask Jeeves, google isn’t helpful when asking questions. This way they could compete with Yahoo Answers, which I use a lot.
