Google stock fell about 10 percent on dissapointing earnings. Google earned $1.25 billion. Without employee stock compensation Google earned $4.63 a share. Analysts estimated $4.74 per share. It was interesting to note that about half of the Google revenue came from international Markets. This and the performance emphasized the weekness of the US economy. The advertising slowdown appears to be effecting Google and the stock fell under $500 for the first time in 3 months.

In an interesting change oil is down over $10. Investors are worried about the economic health of the United States. The Fed Chairman Bernanke underscored the problems citing “numberous difficulties” in the United States economy. The General Motors cuts include production numbers, dividends, and salary workers. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 20.84 points down .19 percent for the day so far with 3 hours left in trading. The Nasdaq was up 10.26 points up .46 percent for the day with 3 hours of trading left.

The markets closed today with the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 45.35 points down .41 percent. The Nasdaq closed down 26.21 points down 1.17 percent for the day. Investors seemed calmed by the plan to baili out Fannie and Freddie but banking is still in trouble. General Motors announced further restructuring. Man just sell yourselves to Toyota and end it. Oil still rose and the Microsoft Yahoo fight continued on forever.

I am thinking of buying a new laptop but I notice that most of the laptops that are on sale or look like a great deal for the most part either have very little memory, or they only offer an AMD processor, or there is no graphics card included in the laptop. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is currently down 26 pints down .24 percent with 2 hours of trading left for the day. The Nasdaq is down 18.14 points down .81 percent with 2 hours of trading left for the day. The financial markets are cowering with shares of Washington Mutual and National City Corp down over twenty fiver percent on concerns over bank stability and the mortgage markets. I have never been a big fan of Washington Mutual but I was not aware that they were so susceptible to this type of news.

The Government is backing up Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. But is this still a huge problem? Mortgage issues are far more reaching than anyone realized. Oil is on the rise again. Apple sold over 1 million iPhones in the first 3 days even though no one could activate them. The markets are down to start but we have 4 hours of trading left to go. I have been putting off getting an iPhone and now I do not think I ever will.
