Stocks were up today again following a report from the Fed. The Microsoft Yahoo talks have died and Yahoo is running to Google for help. On Thursday Yahoo said Google will be handling some advertising sales. Investors were very disappointed and shares fell about 14 percent in the last 2 days. But will antitrust officials step in?

The markets were up today on a positive retail sales report. The Fed in the mean time is talking about raising interest rates. The price of corn is at a record high price. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 65 points .54 percent for the day so far with 2 hours of trading left. The Nasdaq is up 15.73 points up .66 percent for the day with 2 hours of trading left.
Markets stood still as uncertainty rose with the price of oil. The trade deficit is at its highest level in over a year. Oil production is increasing but prices are still increasing. The 3G iPhone is out and with the price cut and improved features and software Apple is sitting pretty.

On Friday the stock market gave a very telling and poor performance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 394.64 points. Gas has risen above $4 with no end in site. Jobs and consumer confidence are falling. What hope does the economy have? It is a bad picture but I believe innovation and change are the answer to achieving a turnaround. The first major job creating step would be to focus on alternative fuel. but we must not do so with biofuel at the cost of rising food prices. Solar and wind are the keys as are electric hybrid cars.

Bank of America received approval from the Federal Reserve to buy Countrywide Financial Corp. This is after Countrywide reported a huge loss . I first reported on the Countrywide Bank of America merger long ago. I am not sure how I feel about this as I have a Bank of America account for business and also my mortgage through Countrywide.
