In my opinion the Fed will lower interest rates although the current economy and stock market is doing fine without it. The problem is that if this lowering does not occur then we will definately need a rate cut as all the investors will panic.

Microsoft has reached new heights with a six year high on their recent positive earnings and aquisition news. Also importan, Countrywide Mortgage posted a big loss but was confident the worse was over. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 73.73 points up .54 percent with two hours left in trading for the day. The NASDAQ was up 38.70 points up 1.41 percent with two hours of trading left for the day. Microsoft (MSFT) was up 9 percent for the day after being up 11 percent last night in after hours trading. This puts Microsoft up 36 percent for a two year period. Most of my other holdings were also up today for a daily gain of 1.5 percent for the day over all. My current holdings are up 28.6% for a two year period or 14.3% per year.

In an amazing release the first quarter profit of Microsoft (MSFT) beat the street estimates on sales of the Halo 3 vidoe game, Windows, and Office. Microsoft posted profit of $4.29 billion beating estimates from analysts of $3.9 billion. Revenue for Microsoft grew 27 percent from the quarter last year and Microsoft has sold 85 million copies of Windows Vista. Shares of Microsoft (MSFT) were up and additional 12% in after hours trading after being up 2.37% for the day during normal trading. This represents a huge gain for Microsoft. Not including after hours trading Microsoft is up 25% for me for a two year period.

The market was basically even today after an up and down jaunt. What started out as a positive day quickly turned negative and then back to even. Oil is expensive, the United States is sacntioning Iran, but most surprisingly of all is that sales of new homes actually increased by 4.8 percent in September which beat analysts expectations of a 2.5 percent drop. The Dow Jones Industrial average was down 4.71 points down .03 percent with one hour left in trading for the day and the NASDAQ was down 21.59 points down .78 percent with one hour of trading left for the day. Microsoft (MSFT) was up 2.59 percent for the day on news it purchased a small stake in Face Book. Microsoft is up 25.28 percent for a two year period. Walt Disney Co. (DIS) was down 2 percent on news it was donating 2 million dollars to aid the fires in California (meaning business at Disney theme parks in California will be affected).
