The stock market is performing well so far with just over 3 hours remaining in active trading for the day. The Dow is up almost 1.4 percent up 181 points with the Nasdaq also up 1.2 percent up 31 points. My individual holdings are up almost 1.5% for the day with Emerging Telecommunications Funds making significant gains of 3 percent today returning to an overall gain of almost 6 percent for the year. Walmart is still sluggish at an 11 percent loss for the year but Lowes stock has been improving and is up over 2 percent today. This will be a good end to the week.

The Markets recovered slightly today with the Dow Jones up .7% and the Nasdaq up almost 1%. The majority of my stocks were up today with AAPL recovering 4.20% in one day that it lost from yesterday. Hopefully these gains will continue through the end of the summer when I believe the concerns on the housing market will finally stabilize. WMT (Walmart) is the only stock I own that is up today and it is up a mere .15% for the day. The stock is still down over 10% for the year after Walmart lowered their revenue estimates for the coming quarter. Why is the stock up today? There is a large amount of negative press about resentencing of a Walmart ex executive, nerves about the upcoming holidays, and a sagging economy. But Walmart was recently named Among the 50 top companies for Latinas’ and the price of the stock is frankly a bargain. Expect big things from Walmart coming out of the holiday season.

I will be traveling to Las Vegas again for a conference and I will be staying in the Venetian hotel. The Venetian Hotel will soon be opening the Palazzo Tower as another hotel within the main hotel in 2007.
